    Happy Easter!!

Take Away the Labels & Become Free.

This week marks a unique week in history, with both Passover and Easter occurring simultaneously.  At first glance, Passover is a reminder of the Israelites exodus from Egypt, and Easter a reminder of the crucifixion and rebirth of Jesus Christ.  Upon second glance, Passover is celebration of the Israelites release from bondage and into freedom, and Easter a celebration of the resurrection of Christ in order to free all souls.  Two different religions, holiday calendars, and traditions, but in many ways one single aim- to remind exaltation of the efforts that moved towards freedom, tangible and intangible.

Too many times today we divide ourselves into X or Y.  We categorize ourselves into A or B.  We label ourselves as C or D.  If we can do this, and maintain an open perspective on the other, an open mind and heart to the other, that is fine.  But if we label, categorize, segment ourselves by cutting off the other, or worse, admonishing or ignoring its existence, then we are doing great injustice to who we are, and the world we live in.

Forget the Passover Seder and the Last Supper for a moment, and come back to something tangible in your every day life.  The basic everyday statement of “I am [_fill in your career here__] “or “I am __fill in another career or hobby or label for yourself__]” and instead try,  ”I am ME.  And that includes _____, ______, ______, ______ AND so much more.”

Whether you see it or not, you are ALL those things.  You are all of it and more.  Just because you or someone else has labeled something one way does not make you the label or the box to carry it.

When you finally let go of those divisions, constructs, and labels in your mind, you will have literally freed yourself from bondage you will have freed your soul, your intangible self, from your tangible self.  You will have created a new self, a new YOU.

So this week, in lieu of the to-extent-similar judeo-christian holidays, try and take off one of the labels, or even just jump into the other one and see what happens.  I am guessing there will be more than Matzo and undecorated eggs on the flip side……
